This is a lovely hotel in a great location, with welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. Our lovely room was very comfortable, and there is easy parking. It's quiet, but the town centre is less than a 5-minute walk away. Dinner was excellent, as were lunch and breakfast! I could not praise the steak with blue cheese cream highly enough - one of the best steaks I've ever had. Much looking forward to staying there again. Highly recommeded.

Alison, The Swan at Hay Guest

Came here for an afternoon tea as a treat. The setting was stunning as was the service. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As you can see from the pictures the food was awesome and there was plenty of it. I would highly recommend come here for that extra special treat. It’s worth the money.

Andy, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

Whoever made a complaint about the Chateau Rhianfa must have got out of the wrong side of their luxurious bed. We stayed for a long Bank Holiday weekend, in the Duke Suite and found the place deserves at least its 4☆. The staff were amazing, from the receptionists, the cleaners, bar staff and waiting staff. They were all so lovely, and nothing was too much trouble. The chef deserves a mention as the food was incredible. The views and the gardens are fantastic. Our room was spotless, up-market toiletries and lovely clean towels and linen. Room service was superb. There is no fridge or bathrobes in the room, but that does not detract from the brilliant stay that we had. Refurbishment is underway, so we can't wait to go back when it's finished. A special thanks to all the receptionists who looked after us so efficiently and always with a smile.

Visited Llangoed halll for afternoon tea, the staff were friendly, helpful yet professional. The afternoon tea was great, they catered for allergies. The setting was fantastic, atmosphere was great, very relaxed , we were not rushed at all. Will definitely be going back for afternoon tea again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Angela, Llangoed Hall Guest

Have been to Llangoed Hall twice now for afternoon tea. Absolutely superb, stunning setting and great service and friendly/attentive staff. Would highly recommend it. A real gem of a place.

Anna, Llangoed Hall Guest

Extremely friendly and polite staff. We stayed for 2 nights with our dog, and the staff made us very welcome. Hotel was very clean, with pleasant outside gardens. A few minutes walking distance to town.

Dave, Sudbury House Guest

We got married here two weeks ago. The staff and manager Christine were amazing. Great communication, nothing was too much for them. On the day they got the right balance of making sure we had everything with also giving us space.

David, Poets House Guest

But professional..lovely setting.. dining room had a lovely atmosphere with low music and diners chatting... Would recommend.

Debbie, Poets House Guest

Absolutely magnificent. Worth every penny. The rooms are spotless and stunning. The staff are also excellent, their service is 🤌🏼. Jordan looked after us and was brilliant - on the phone before our stay when we had a query and throughout. Thank you!!

Brian, Poets House Guest

My husband and i went for afternoon tea today for my birthday and our wedding anniversary we were made very welcome very pleasant staff and the afternoon tea was very enjoyable far too much to eat we asked for a box to take 10 cakes back home with us the quiche was the best I had ever tasted the pastry was lovely and crisp and you could taste the cheese in it 5 stars the cakes were excellent too well done to all of you and thankyou for making it special anne and steve bird.

Anne, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

We held our daughter's wedding here on 19th August and are so pleased we chose this amazing venue. Luckily the sun shone first time in weeks and everything was just perfect. From the early morning arrival of the hair and make-up girls to the bridal suite to the very last dance at midnight everything went very smoothly with the constant attention of Natalie the event coordinator we couldn't have wished for more.

Thank you to all the team at Sudbury House for making my daughter and her new husband's day so special we didn't want it to end. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a wedding venue.

Charlotte, Sudbury House Guest

Could not praise Hawkstone Park anymore for how incredible they were from start to finish with our wedding day! They answered all our questions constantly reassured us if we had any concerns and were amazing! The food was delicious and all the wedding guests commented on it. Everyone was also in awe of how beautiful the venue is! Our wedding day could not have been better and I just want to say a huge thankyou to all the staff and everyone at Hawkstone! I would highly recommend having your wedding here or even just going for a visit. The follies are beautiful nearby and the venue is brilliant. The rooms are lovely especially the bridal suites! Thankyou again!

Claire, Hawkstone Park Guest

We attended a family wedding at Hawkstone Park everything from the venue to the staff was absolutely amazing the grounds are beautiful the staff amazingly friendly and helpful. The food was amazing I would highly recommend this place.

Irene, Hawkstone Park Guest

I had an aromatherapy full-body massage with Hannah. I felt really relaxed and the massage itself was amazing and really helped release stress. Didn’t want it to end. Thank you so much, would absolutely recommend :)

Jemima, Hellidon Lakes Guest

A lovely hotel, with attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. Excellent location for the town without the noise of the centre.

Lee, Riverside Kendal Guest

Great from start to finish, nice recently refurbished room overlooking the golf course, food was of a good standard, golf was great, service very good, no complaints at all, a shout out to Liam for rearranging our tee time to get out before a society group, all in all very good.

Dave, Hellidon Lakes Guest

Went for a golfing weekend with some friends and we all thought it was excellent. The rooms were large and clean, the food was very good and well presented. The staff were also helpful and informative. The golf course is quite a walk for the mature golfer shall we say, but plenty of buggies available. The burgers at the halfway house were also fresh and very tasty 😋. Also the views from the course are spectacular. Would definitely consider going there again.

David, Hellidon Lakes Guest

We had pre booked using a voucher which we forgot to bring. Adrian at reception was so accommodating and accepted our booking without fuss. The hospitality and friendliness was carried through for the whole of our visit. On a miserable wet day in April, The Swan was a welcoming retreat. The cream tea was delicious with a varied selection of sandwiches and cakes. Faultless. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Dougal, The Swan at Hay Guest

Stayed here for 2 nights in Rhianfa Lodge. The views are simply breathtaking, large rooms, and super comfortable beds. The staff are amazing, I forgot my heart rate monitor. Erica kindly organised it’s safe return to me. The food is excellent and will 100% stay again.

Gerry, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

Our perfect gift from the family for our golden wedding. From stepping into Rhianfa we were treated so professionally and with such delight. Everything was amazing. Even the glorious Welsh precipitation and mist didn't faze us. The accommodation was comfy and spacious. Meals delicious!

Gwen, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

We had a superb afternoon tea. The location is easy to find and the whole ambience of the place was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's certainly somewhere we might like to stay for a weekend or longer and we will definitely be back.

Mel, Poets House Guest

Absolutely beautiful and staff welcoming. The overall experience was 10/10. We are going back there to stay next time Strongly advise to you to go and experience the splendor and hospitality of Llangoed Hall.

Michelle, Llangoed Hall Guest

Was here for my son's wedding, to me, everything went smoothly with no problems. The room was comfortable and clean, well presented and odourless. The food was tasty and enjoyable. Breakfast the following morning was awesome and, again, tasty food.

Mike, Sudbury House Guest

My partner and I stayed at Hawkstone on a Golfing break away (2 rounds of golf and a 1 night stay). We arrived to find that the booking company had requested a twin room for us but Cheryl was extremely helpful and changed our accommodation for us to a King Size Room. She was also very helpful in giving us some information about local facilities etc... The room itself was very comfortable and everything we needed was at hand. The bed was extremely comfortable and I would have been very happy to take it home haha. The food was amazing and all of the staff were extremely helpful and polite. The two golf courses were well-maintained and we both enjoyed playing here. Would we stay here again? Yes absolutely, though next time we will be booking direct rather than through a booking company.

Hawkstone Park Guest

Myself & a friend have today been to the Beauty Salon at Hellidon Lakes, we both had a facial which was amazing one of the best I’ve had & my friend very much agreed, the girls were absolutely lovely & made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Hellidon Lakes Guest

We arrived Christmas eve and departed the day after boxing day, everything in-between was excellent. Our room was situated in the basement right next to the lift and along the corridor from the restaurant and morning room. We had the biggest wet room imaginable as it was set in one of the chateaus turrets. The soaps, gels and shampoos provided were really good quality, as were the bed linens, towels and robes. The staff were very friendly, helpful & proficient in their tasks. The food was very good. Very, very flavoursome and generous portions. A nice touch were the bowls of chocolates situated around the rooms and teas and coffee were complimentary. A fantastic place to sit and quietly while away the hours with your own thoughts or reading a book or just idly chatting with fellow guests. So good we booked again for next year.

Ian, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

A fabulous, quiet, well priced place to eat. We had a table of 8 for lunch and they couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was amazing and so was the service. The meal was also a bit cheaper than the other restaurants we’d been to in Hay, and much nicer!

Penelope, The Swan at Hay Guest

Stayed here overnight in the Coach House, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, amazing place with the most beautiful views, all the staff were superb, Blanca Victoria on reception went above & beyond, thank you.

A super afternoon tea with a great selection of sandwiches, scones and a lovely choice of cakes, sitting in a very peaceful garden. One small disappointment was no hot milk with the coffee. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

Sam, The Swan at Hay Guest

Apparently this hotel is ranked as a 3 star? Stay here for a night and it's like living in luxury. Rooms look out onto the river. Had a drink or 2 on the verandah overlooking the river with the added bonus of heating overhead. ALL staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Complementary gym (within hotel) for residents. This hotel is well worth another visit. So summing up this hotel should have a ranking of 5 stars.

Ian, Riverside Kendal Guest

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Our room was was gorgeous and double aspect, with stunning views over the garden. The room was large with a huge bed , complimentary water and tea, coffee and biscuits. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, we helped ourselves to juice, pastries and cereal, staff brought our coffee and toast to the table along with toast. We also ordered our hot cooked breakfast with the staff and it was all delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

Jacqueline, The Swan at Hay Guest

Loved everything about this place. Our 2 night stay, included our wedding ceremony. Though we only had 5 guests, we were made to feel so special. Staff (esp Elin) were so welcoming and helpful. Location is stunning, with gardens down to the shore of the Menai Strait. All meals were lovely - substantial breakfasts, generous and diverse champagne afternoon tea, delicious 3 course meal after the ceremony. We stayed in the Duchess Suite, which was amazing. Our guests had seaview rooms within the chateau. Would recommend staying here and definitely hope to return.

Janet, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

Excellent stay, great clean room and en suite, lovely evening meal and breakfast, also somewhere to store my bike overnight. I like the way the heating was turned down and left to the guest to set the temperature as I don’t like to sleep in a hot room.

John, The Swan at Hay Guest

Brilliant golf courses... Food outstanding (Breakfast awesome).

Great welcome from staff really homely atmosphere....

Stephen, Hawkstone Park Guest

Our special day was tailor made for us at this wonderful venue. From the moment we walked in we felt warm and welcomed. The entire team made us feel at ease with any request and always a smile to be seen. Amazing people and an amazing hotel. Thank you Poets House.

Stephen, Poets House Guest

Really enjoyed Prosecco Afternoon Tea for 2, delicious food and generous portions. Brilliant service from the lovely staff, would definitely recommend!

Tasha, Poets House Guest

Very, very friendly hotel with first class service from staff. Dogs very welcome. Cannot fault this hotel. Gladly return in the future. Rooms clean, tidy and comfortable. Would not hesitate to book this hotel if considering a trip.

The Swan at Hay Guest

Just had our daughters wedding here on Friday and the day was amazing. Hotel did us proud the food was amazing the staff could not do enough for us and the lady who helped our daughter plan her wedding went above and beyond to make her day as special as it was. The Hotel and rooms are beautiful and would recommend this Hotel for a wedding a stay or just a drink and a meal would come back again and again for meal and drink. Thank you all for everything you did for us and we will never forget our daughters perfect wedding day.

Julie, Poets House Guest

Came here to have dinner, and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Megan was lovely, who served us at the bar.
Jacqueline is very polite and friendly who looked after us at our table. We had steak for main and chocolate brownies for dessert and the food was amazing, compliments to chef Calvin. Highly recommended.

Karen, Hellidon Lakes Guest

I and my partner were fortunate enough to spend our Wedding Day at Sudbury House Hotel. The day was perfect, thanks to Natalie & the team going above & beyond! The scenery is stunning and made some really good photos for our wedding. All of the guests who attended in the day & evening complimented the foods provided, especially the roast beef. The deluxe Suite was definately pleasant, spacious & worth the money which added a special feel to our day. Thank you Sudbury House & team for make our day special.

Kieron, Sudbury House Guest

I stayed at Hawkstone Park Hotel after my other accommodation fell through and I was stranded with nowhere to stay. From my first panicked phone call until check out, the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful, especially Cheryl at reception, who made sure I was well taken care of. My room was small, but perfect for me as a solo traveller. It was clean and comfortable, with supplies to make coffee and tea, and biscuits to snack on. A breakfast buffet was included and I upgraded to have dinner included as well. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the restaurant staff were attentive without being intrusive. My room overlooked the restaurant and patio, which did mean a bit of noise in the evening, as there was a golf tournament taking place at the time of my stay. There are no lifts, however the staff were more than willing to help with my suitcases. If I was ever in this area again, I would definitely stay here.

Lisa, Hawkstone Park Guest

Spent the last night of our tour of Wales here. Great hotel. The team was really looking after us. Highly recommended!

Tim, Llangoed Hall Guest

My partner Sarah and I had our wedding reception here in June 2023. Christine and the team were brilliant in supporting our celebration. The venue was also very accessible for my mum who uses an electric wheelchair. 10/10 service. Thank you.

Victoria, Poets House Guest

A really friendly country hotel. Excellent food. Efficiently run. Staff are very helpful and good ar what they do. Easily accessible to explore hay on wye. Lots of good rambles in the countryside and within walking distance of hay.

Vivian, The Swan at Hay Guest

This is our third visit here as we were so impressed with the hotel when we stayed last summer. The rooms have been spacious and clean, providing tea-making facilities as well as bathroom items and fluffy towels. The service has been brilliant on each visit, with a friendly welcome and time taken to make the stay the best it can be. The bar has a good selection of drinks available and the artwork is interesting too.

The restaurant for both breakfast and the evening meal has been lovely, overlooking the well-set-out gardens. The food has been outstanding each time, so much so, that we haven’t wanted to eat out elsewhere. We have recommended the hotel to friends and family and will most likely be returning again when we can.

Lynne, Sudbury House Guest

We stayed here for a night and I really loved it, so so beautiful I wish we could have stayed longer, we ordered room service from the bar menu and had breakfast that morning, everything was perfect. The hotel itself and the grounds of the hotel are so beautiful. Would definitely love to come back. One thing I would say is it is quite difficult to get through to the hotel, we called a few times prior to our stay and ended up having to email instead.

Niamh, Chateau Rhianfa Guest

Me an my brother in law have visited Hawkstone hotel an golf club for many years staff are fantastic an really welcoming always there to help courses are brilliant especially Hawkstone course our favourite, rooms are lovely and well kept housekeeping always look after you special thanks I think is restaurant/bar manager he went that step further to help thanks for my cheese board excellent.

Nick, Hawkstone Park Guest

It was my wife’s grandmothers’s 100th birthday the projector I had for some slides was not good enough. Emergency!! I rocked up the Swan and asked if they had a projector. Met Mark and a few others. Yes they did have one! But it was at Llangoed Hall Hotel…. They arranged with them for me to pick it up and use it. It worked fine and all was well and Grandma had a fab time. In all of this no one was concerned about who I was, whether I would bring it back and did not ask for any money….. basically they were brilliant and helped me get out of a sticky situation. So Thankyou to The Swan and Hay and to their sister hotel at Llangoed! Great human spirit!!

Oliver, The Swan at Hay Guest

The location is excellent all the staff we came across were very helpful and polite rooms were very nice and a good breakfast overall our weekend stay here was everything we wanted thanks to all at the riverside hotel.

Walter, Riverside Kendal Guest

Excellent Sunday lunch. All 3 courses and wine superb. Staff were courteous, professional, smart and very attentive. A thoroughly enjoyable visit and have no hesitation in recommending. Will most definitely visit again.

Wendy, Poets House Guest

A Valentine's treat deferred until summer we had a lovely afternoon tea here. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service was excellent. Special mention to Adrian who was so helpful from booking through to being so welcoming today we will be back to sample the main menu. Thank you!

Rosie, The Swan at Hay Guest

Wonderful place set on very picturesque grounds with some stunning views. It has three 9-hole courses which can be swapped around over your stay to accommodate variety in your golf.

Wonderful friendly staff great food and comfortable rooms in all will recommend this to others.

Roy, Hellidon Lakes Guest

Great hotel in a nice little town. Staff were friendly, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was really nice. Staff phoned us after we booked to inform us there was a wedding at the hotel, the night we were staying so the main restaurant would be closed in the evening as a result. They kindly offered alternative options which was great. The hotel also has EV charging which was handy for us with an electric car, although it was just a single outlet and was a paid for service which was fine, but could have been a pain if it was already in use. Overall a lovely stay and would recommend to anyone staying in the area - some nice bars and restaurants in close walking distance.

Sudbury House Guest

Lovely friendly staff. We stayed for one night. Dinner. Room. And breakfast. The food was lovely. The room was comfortable, although we didn't have any water in the room, so I'd recommend taking a bottle as the bar didn't have bottles for our room. But other than that, a lovely little reasonably priced stay for a quick night away.

Tasha, Poets House Guest

A cosy hotel with a nice atmosphere, we enjoyed a 2 night stay here in October. We had a very good meal in the restaurant on Friday evening, the food was good quality, dietary needs met and the service was excellent. The hotel and rooms are clean, staff friendly and accommodating and the bar area has a relaxing feel, with music played pleasantly without intruding on our conversation. I would stay again and recommend this hotel.

Tony, Sudbury House Guest
